Locks and Bolts
- Change existing locks if you've just moved into a home.
- If you lose your keys or they are stolen, replace lock cylinders immediately.
- Use of deadbolt locks makes it harder for a burglar to force his way in. A full-service security system will deter him even further (always place the security "sticker" in your window).
- Treat inside garage doors the same as an outside door: multiple locks and bracing.
- Make sure all outside doors to your house have keyed knobsets and deadbolt locks.
- Secure garage and shed doors,and gate latches, with pin-tumbler, laminated padlocks.
- Make sure padlocks are highly resistant to weather and the elements.
- Always lock gate, garage, shed and storage warehouse doors.
