As the new thatch fire season approaches interest in ThatchGARD heats up
Following the recent live demonstration there is significant interest in ThatchGARD,MyGARD's unique fire prevention product.
ThatchGARD,a unique, intelligent alarm system which alerts owners of thatched properties to the risk of fire well before it starts, was demonstrated at Chiltern Fire in Buckinghamshire on 28th June 2006.
John Steel, MyGARD CEO, says "reducing risk by early detection is key -there are clear benefits for both insurers and the fire services with this product".
The live demonstration was aired on BBC News and since then has been covered in magazines, newspapers and on radio.
" Our figures show that over £20m of insurance claims occurred last year. In addition the cost to the fire services were in the region of £2m-£3m", states Steel.
MyGARD continues to demonstrate the new product to insurers, underwriters, the fire services & the thatching community.
With 90 per cent of thatch fires resulting from heat transfer from the chimney to the adjacent thatch, ThatchGARD prevents fires from starting by tackling the root cause of the problem.
ThatchGARD is the result of over 10 years of research and development and is designed to be an integral part of household management, integrating with existing security and fire alarms for added peace of mind.
The device costs less than £1 per day including installation and three years maintenance and monitoring.
